We all know the Style Reference parameter. With the --𝘀𝗿𝗲𝗳 [𝗜𝗠𝗚 𝗨𝗥𝗟] parameter, you can use any image URL as a style reference for your image generations. Many of us have explored and utilized this tool, we have also delved into the nuances of colour palette applications, controlled by the --𝘀𝘄 [𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲] to determine the influence of the style on the output.

The newly announced 'random' feature on the Midjourney Discord introduces a novel way to 'discover' styles by "exploring the latent space for visual styles!" While still experimental, it opens up new avenues for creativity.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁:

Simply append --𝘀𝗿𝗲𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺 to your base prompt and let the algorithm do the styling for you. Although the results may not initially surprise you, the random feature is designed to explore different visual styles and then use one of the generated images as a style reference for a more focused architectural exploration.
